  • News: A new server went live last night.

With the demise of BF3 getting ever stronger, last night we reinstalled a BC2 rush server. It's the old name that is Noobs so it'd be great if we got on there from time to time to have some extra rush fun. HM get's boring after a while :P

  • News: Call To Arms People

With the new year coming we need your help with server bills. We need people to start paying for SGA to help pay for our expensive BF3 server. We are going to perge the donation system and add those who have paid this year already and as for everyone else admin will removed. We are doing this to raise money as our server costs are £135 per month not including the cod4/minecraft/l4d servers that I host.

Anyone looking to help please us this and purchase a subsciption.

  • News: Union Of Gamers

This post is currently under construction and I'll add more info ASAP. Since the idea got such great feedback on the livestream, we want to be transparant from the start and already throw these ideas out there for further feedback.

Some quick guidelines for deals and contracts for pro-gamers, vloggers and streamers:

    - Exclusivity: This can take on several different forms within the same contract. A contract can have provisions that say you are simply no longer allowed to upload or stream your content to other sites and services. But it may also apply in different forms. Most contracts do have such an exclusivity provision for at least a year or so, which is normal and is something that, in most cases, you may just have to accept (but be very careful with contracts that demand a crazy duration for exclusivity of many years). However, even if your contract states mentions no exclusivity of such sort or only for 6 months or so, it may have additional provisions that state that even after this term has passed, your content remains, in some way or another, property of the network, prohibiting you from uploading/streaming your work elsewhere even after the contract has ended.
Worst offender: contracts that claim complete exclusivity... PERPETUALLY. (this means FOREVER)
    - Ownership of your content: Elaborating on the previous, a lot of companies will want some sort of ownership of your content, scrutinize your contract for every mention of this and be very careful: you don't want to perpetually lose everything you make under that service to the network or company your working through.
Worst offender: contracts that basically state that all your work you do during that time AND similar work you may do elsewhere during the contract's period is and always will be owned by the company, irreversibly.
    - "just a quick formality, we need this back by tomorrow": We've seen companies try to pull this left and right, pull you in with an okay contract, then send you additional provisions and present them as 'just something they need you to sign to unlock this new feature for you'. If they need your permission for it and money or intellectual property is involved, something's up, read and analyze thoroughly.

These are probably the primary ones, just typed this up quickly for now and will elaborate and expand to fully share our insights on the topic.

Give us your ideas and feedback on what you think of the Union of Gamers concept. Based on your feedback we will move this further and make this into a thing... or not. Posted Image

  • News: You with Virgin Media? Might want to read this.

I just got emailed from Killercreation (Our ranked server provider for BFBC2 and BF3 and Teamspeak) saying that virgin media customers might be experiancing some problems at the moment due to some transit problems.

    Quote

    Hi there,

Virgin Media are experiencing heavy congestion at the London Internet Exchange (LINX) where we peer with them. Unfortunately, this causes high latency and affects nearly every ISP in the UK (and Europe) that exchanges data with Virgin Media directly. The issue is particularly prevalent between 18:00 - 22:00 Monday to Friday and from 12:00 onwards at the weekend.

We have notified Virgin Media's peering department and hopefully this can be resolved in a timely manner. Please understand that this is the fault of Virgin Media and there is little KillerCreation can do about it.

Note: This only affects customers who use Virgin Media as their home broadband provider. We would encourage anyone using Virgin Media to submit a support ticket to them in order to apply pressure to get this resolved.

    Kind regards

It should only affect our bf3, bc2 and teamspeak, how ever if the problem is more widespread then some of the other servers we host on my dedi might also be effected. More to follow later when they email back.
